The color pencils were a fun unit. While layering did take a long time to do, it was pretty fun to do and you do learn more about color composition and values from the unit. I did need to use darker reds and greens, they are way too light compared to the original picture I used.
For the pottery projects, we used clay to form bowls and jars for personal (or charity) usage; the plasticity of clay allows us to do this very easily. Of course, they clay doesn't stay completely solid until you bisque-fire it or glaze-fire (bisque- putting bone-dry clay (also called greenware if ready for kiln) in kiln, glaze- putting clay painted a certain way in the kiln) it in the kiln. Before clay gets bone-dry (a fairly self-explanatory term), it gets leather hard which is, true to the name, as formable as leather would be, and easier to work with in some cases.Upside-down drawing is easier because you're drawing what you see. What happens when you're confronted with drawing hands folded together is that you get confused and the picture starts "falling apart" from there. My experience with it was an experience. I don't know what line style I used, I just drew.
Blind contour drawing is important because it teaches you to draw what you see instead of what you're thinking. I didn't have any thought process while drawing my hand wrinkles, I was just drawing. |
